Baylor University is committed to achieving a diverse supplier base and increasing participation from Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), veteran and women-owned enterprises, prioritizing local businesses throughout the University’s procurement efforts. The University is diligently working to identify and eliminate obstacles that may impede the success of these businesses in working with the institution and actively pursuing opportunities to foster and leverage strategic alliances with suppliers to advocate for their continued growth.
Baylor University aims to broaden its pool of suppliers by developing strong business partnerships with diverse and local businesses, and by providing them with the opportunity to develop an identifiable presence within the campus community.
Procurement Services promotes and supports this by:
- Communicating Baylor’s strategic procurement plans to suppliers and local organizations, and ensuring that diverse suppliers are considered for bid opportunities
- Incorporating supplier diversity and inclusion into the university’s purchasing policies and procedures
- Providing a simple supplier registration process with tracking and reporting
- Working with our top construction firms and ensuring that we are providing opportunities for Tier 2 suppliers
- Leading supplier information opportunities, trade shows, and community business exchanges
- Supporting local businesses through mentorship and development opportunities
The campus community is expected to support these efforts through contracts awarded to qualified diverse and local businesses.
